The fast socio economic growth in Turkey is taking to an increasing need of education, therefore to and increasing demand of educational spaces. For this reason the Ministry of Education develops a new
strategy: gathering the student of all high schools, in new multidisciplinary educational complex, placed on the development axis. These campuses reorganize the educational needs in a more functional and economical way.
Malatya Education Campus is located on a 160.000 sqm. land in a town called Yeşilyurt, nearby an intercity highway connecting Malatya to Kayseri.
In the main concept the campus has been conceived as series of functions organized around a big green protected area, in order to create a living space where public facilities, such as squares, streets, cultural centers, recreational and sport areas, perfectly integrates with the education units.
The intention is not to create an isolated area but to establish a strict relation between the campus and the city, opening some of its facilities to a public use.
For this reason, functions that need to be in direct relation with the city are located on the North side, where the campus is connected to the intercity highway through a route devised by the Strategic plan.
This route connects all the social and cultural centers, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, cafeteria and dormitories around the main entrance square with free day and night access. Education units are located in the South area with access from the central green area but also directly from a road for the bus service.
